Wanderlust: Kyoto (Part 2/2)

This would be the last holiday together “alone”.  Because our baby was about 3 months old already inside me!  His first trip actually!

Anyways, we started the day by going to the bamboo “forest”.  It was not at all a forest, and since we’ve been to real bamboo forests in hang Zhou, this one actually felt underwhelming.

And this tofu meal – looked so pretty but tasted less good than it looked.

After we walked the bamboo area, we got lost among the little roads of endless beautiful Japanese homes.  The architecture was just really beautiful and stunning and the weather… was equally lovely .  Blue skies, with breeze and sunshine.

That evening, we tried this pancake egg dish.  NOT my thing!   Wow I’m NOT a fan of Japanese food after all… it is just too sweet and has this weird sauce each time that is sweet and tastes uncooked to me!

OK I’m just not a fan of the sweet weird sauce.  The next day we went for Japanese fine-dining recommended by our hotel owner.  The dishes were SO SIMPLE but everything was cooked to the RIGHT TEXTURE and TEMPERATURE, very very precisely.  It was beautiful. This was one meal I couldn’t even remember the stuffs we ate, but that it was so good! And we had the entire room to ourselves!! I loved the entire experience!!  Very local, there were only locals in the place too!  With this our trip came to an end.  We walked around town again, and went to philosopher’s walk again just because we had the time.  All in all, the raw Japanese food was my favorite, and I would want to explore different parts of Japan.  This was supposed to be a big city and it already felt very rural, except for downtown area.  Where we stayed, it was so quiet, not at all what I imagined Japan to be… and a wee bit too quiet for me. I missed the hustle bustle cosiness.
