It’s summer, and it makes me think of our roadtrip last year, which I couldn’t even share all yet here. So thought I’d share the continuation of our time in Italy…
From Venice, we drove to Bologna. And then searched for something to eat – everything was CLOSED in the afternoon. In the end, we decided to go into town and ate some snacks from little shops. The town had a huge shopping street. Bologna, to me was less amazing, mostly cos I was imagining old italian town. It was an old italian town – but FULL of red bricked buildings. And since I’m not really fond of red brick buildings, somehow the town just felt old and dated. The university here is said to be THE oldest university in the world.
we had the most delicious gelato with some kind of chocolate cake / brownie mixed in the gelato.
TOM picked it !
this church was strange. the bottom of the façade was in beautiful bright bright white marble.
the rest of the church was in red/brown brick/stone.
a random little building that we passed caught our attention, so we walked in and found ourselves
in a most charming courtyard.
one of the oldest little church/chapel and its cloister.
After 6 days of regular meals, I really wanted a GOOD meal. Especially in Bologna,
where they say is the gastronomy city of Italy.
We followed the guide in the Rough Guide and chose a restaurant.
It was not the best Italian we’ve had, but still decent, lot better than German/Austrian cuisine.
