Shanghai Newborn Photographer | Baby H

Shanghai Newborn Photographer

Joanne contacted me last year to do a maternity photography session.  It was quite late, and coincidentally, we were both going to go to Hong Kong to give birth!  I had still not fixed my hospital, and she was super helpful in sharing information even!

Baby H was born in Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital, and we literally lived a 5 minutes walk away from there!  As soon as I got back to Shanghai, we planned for a newborn session.

This would be my first newborn session EVER.  I had photographed a 6-month-old session before, but baby H would be just about 2 months old.  I was super nervous, but it helped a great deal, that I was now a mother myself.  Our babies were literally born about a week apart!  I had just been on the other side of the lens.  We had our own newborn session with the amazing Mai, and that itself was such an inspiration for me.

I am SO SO thankful to Joanne for trusting me with this special season.  We have actually even continued to keep in touch! Not only did I enjoy this session so much, it means so much to my heart to do these newborn sessions.  Now that I am a mother myself, I relate to it so much more deeply.  Little did I know that this would be the first of so many newborn sessions and lighten up passion inside of me that I didn’t even know existed.

This is what Joanne had to say:

Lily was very patient with us, which was much appreciated as we had a newborn who needed diaper changes and feeding in the middle of the shoot. She really took her time to get the right shots, didn’t make us feel like we were on a schedule, and tried to capture what we normally do at home while giving us some gentle guidance.  Lily also captured some expressions on my newborn that we haven’t been able to capture on camera before. We will cherish these photos for a lifetime!
I love that you captured my breastfeeding – I didn’t expect you to snap photos during that time, but now those are some of the photos I will cherish the most! Especially because I don’t have any photos of me breastfeeding. It’s so important to us to have photos of Harper because she changes so much every single day – so we really value these photos and every expression captured in them. Thank you so much!
